I guess the lounge is as good a place as any to vent. I bought another ride for my wife a few weeks back. A while back I felt the economy winds turning, about that time someone pulled out in front of her in a Nissan we had, (in a s10 no less) and totaled out both of them. The at fault woman driver had no insurance, so my insurance ALMOST paid of the Nissan. I didn't get a new one at that time as I felt times were going to get rough. Anyway, she started driving my tow rig, a 1992 Suburban. I blew up the Nissan truck I have, (Most of you have seen it in my pics) so I bought a 1992 Toyota Corrolla as I was walking. I got a newer Suburban for her and got mine back as I am just to rotund for the Toyota. Once I stuff myself in it, I am fine, but getting in and out, especially with my knee acting up is a pain. So I decided to sell it.
Here is the rant. Why is it people think a selling price is at least half as much as the asking price? I mean, come on. I am selling a car, not giving it away. And if you say you will come back with the cash, then at least call if you change your mind. And don't expexct a new car for les than $2,000.00. It's used for crying out loud.
I put it on Craigslist. Said cash in person, no shipping. You would think that would stop the scammers but no... The idiots just kept trying. (I set up a dummy email just for this listing). A bumnch of calls for directions with no shows, a set time to show with no call/ no show. Calls for " I'm a single parent will you finance" Will you take $1,00.00 cash now, 2 calls for brokers to do the selling for me, when I still have to show the car myself, as they are out of state. And the list goes on.
My personal favorite was after a test drive was "What is the least you will take for it" I was asking $1,650. I said $1,500.00 is my bottom dollar. Will you take $1,100?)
I paid $1,500 for it, just put a new timing belt on it about 3 months ago as part of the normal service. Put 2 new CV axle assemblies in it the day before I listed it as they were popping a little, and tuned it up and changed the oil then. I even bought another drivers seat since it was worn.
It finally left a few minutes ago for $1,360.00. All the guy had. In return for lowering the price (which if I didn't have to pay a huge insurance deductibe for an MRI, I wouldn't have). I got a bill of sale as is, where is, so it's out of my hair.
I can see I'm not a people person...
