I have not had smoked coon, but have had BBQ Coon. My Father in law would catch coon and sell the hide and a local store buy the meat. He had to start leaving one paw on them.... I guess some people were selling cats as coons. So they had to leave the paw on. I have never seen a skinned and cleaned cat so I don't know how the look like. Must be close.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Wife's grandmother would get the government cheese and it was better than what you could buy in the store.
In Boy Scouts we would get some USDA peanut butter and the jelly and use a big camp outs... Good stuff. I buy Jif.
I do get the Damn Skippy part..Another Southern saying that no one else gets.

Skippy? Isn't that something to do with Jeff? Knew a guy everybody called Skippy and his name was Jeff... eh, off topic and out of place.

My grandparents used to volunteer at the senior center and would give out the gov. butter, cheese, canned meat, and stuff. I was on my own and poor, so my grandmother would take extra and give me blocks of cheese and butter. It was good stuff.

I know what Dang Skippy means and it has nothing to do with Peanut Butter.

Government Cheese, powdered milk it's all good. My dad used to say it doesn't matter what we had for dinner as long as we were all together and all were healthy. That last part was aimed at my youngest sister who had alot of health issues...still does.
