Hey all, Does anyone out there used a Mallory HY-wire 6a on their stock engine to upgrade to electronic ignition? Mine is acting different then I expected. The engine won't fire off until after the key is released during starting. Is this normal for those ignition boxes? Other than that It works great, smooth Idle. Not geting any performance improvement, but that's because Im using the POS stock carb. Seems to be fine just a little anoying to have to wait to find out its lighting off till after the key is released. Any help would be great. Thanks Gentz.

Set up: Ignition box-Mallory HY-Wire 6a
Coil MSD Blaster
Dizzy 81 stock luv/mag pickup
Plug wires Autolite OE grade
Plugs NGK Gap@.040

The reason your truck wont fire off until after you let off of the key is due to how you have it wired up. Stock, the LUV is wired with two wires connected to the ballast resistor. One comes from the ignition switch "run" terminal, the other from a relay that supplies battery voltage to the coil while cranking. The relay is in that box mounted on the right side fender well close to the cab. Take a look at the wiring schematic's that the web site has on it's info page.
