has any one converted there vacuum secondary metering plate over to the metering block with jets. if so whats involved I know they make a kit for it. can you use a metering block off another carb if so do you need to plug the powervalve opening. wanting to do this conversion on my motorhome. I have an extra metering block so if I dont have to get the kit that would be good but if not I will buy it. thanks

I see no one has made a comment and I dont know either. I will ask the professor. He might know I got vac secondary from him with the conversion already on it. I have it still also.

It's been a while since I did one of these conversions. I think there is some drilling involved in the carb body on some older carbs. You also have to make sure you have the correct gasket for the metering plate you use. There are a couple of different ones in use. They look the same but some of the vacuum carbs gaskets don't have the holes in the right place. Just match the metering plate up to the gasket. Also, you don't want to block of the power valve for street use. A lot of times it will run rich and have an off idle stumble. Most holleys come standard with a 6.5 valve. It will show 65 on the valve. This refers to the amount of vacuum needed to open the valve. A backfire will sometimes blow the diaphragm in the valve so check a used one before you install it. A new one is relatively cheap and some like the Moroso replacements are blowproof.

I went a head and picked up the conversion kit for it to make it simple. it comes with out the power valve port and no pvcr ports in it which is what the power valve controls. so I should be able to jet it just like a double pumper. thanks for the responses
