My dads' got an '89 escort 1.9 that he picked up to fix up and sell. We've been working on it for a long time but we just can't figure out what's wrong with it. He's replaced everything you could think of for a tune-up. Replace the ignition coil even though it tested good. Replaced the ignition module when it tested bad, but it still didn't solve the problem. So let me run it by you guys, (you're all geniuses by the way). It cranks over, injector spits in some gas every so often and sometimes the car will try to start, but it's really only a burp, the spark is really intermittant. Sometimes it sparks, sometimes not. Really a weak spark when we see it, but I don't know for sure what is and isn't weak. Anyone got any ideas why this car won't run?

Yeah, grounds are good, we even hooked up a few extra grounds to be sure. I'm not 100% about the codes, but I'm pretty sure that it doesn't or he would've looked into it. He works at an Auto parts store part time and that's the first question he always asks when somethings wrong with someones car.

How about the inertia switch?

It's located behind one of the side pannels in the trunk. Forgot what side it's on.... I want to say passenger.

It can go off for random reasons sometimes..... give that a try.
