Sorry I haven't been on alot lately, I've been really busy. But I have a problem I can't figure out and wanted to run it by you guys.

My brother's wife is driving there Hyundai Elantra, 92 I think, in the rain the other day and as she turns a corner all the lights go out and the car shuts off. They have it towed to my place cause I guess they think I know what I'm doing. . .But all I can figure out is that there's something drawing over 60 amps of power because no matter if the keys in the car or not everytime you connect the battery it blows the 60 amp fuse at the battery in the blink of an eye. . . I started unhooking wires until it stopped blowing the fuse cause it was stuck in park and the tow truck driver plopped the car in a really inconvenient place and I needed it moved. So now it runs, and all the lights work, but the battery, air bag, and brake lights are on so I don't dare drive it anywhere and I can't figure out what's wrong. I've unhooked all his extra's like the radio and the fog lights and stuff, so I know it's not any of his accessories, but it didn't help. Anyone have any thoughts? I would really appreciate it, cause my brother has even less money than I do. . .He's going to school and living off of grants. We can not afford to have it fixed.

Thanks.

didn't they just have a recall on the anti-roll-management system on the kia and the car she's driving???
B/c (i think it's how it works) the computer is supposed to shut fuel/spark to the motor to get it to slow the car down. maybe the computer's screwed? eh?

I don't think it's that. Something happened to blow the 60 amp fuse at the battery. Can an alternator cause something like that?

if the engine revs up real high then probably, but i think the engineers would've figured that out sooner.

I'm gonna look at a recall website and see if there was some sort o' recall on that car...

(5 seconds later)

BINGO!!! BTW the car should be a 94.

That's cool info, I'm glad to know about some of that stuff. We did find the problem, I took the alt. in to get it checked and they told me that oil had gotten inside and fried the brushes. We paid $20 for a used one and he's back on the road. Thanks for that info though, that's really helpful. Found several re-calls on my wifes van. . .
