redluv80 the rotors that i used were 1990s i think 84to94 are the same early ones are one piece they may fit but i know that mine are 90as i'm the ont that took them off.Yes i used the stock luv rotors all i did was space them with chrysler 2.2 head bolt washers as that was what i had that fit and they are hard washers.Hope this helps, just ask i will try to answer any questions

HUH :? I lost something with your terminology, but i will try, the rotor as you are looking at it is still mounted and the pic. is the way it looked when i took it off. The reason for the pic is to show how the Pinto tie rod bolts to the LUV arm.I thought of reaming the tapered hole but it would not leave enough material to be safe.

tj, Glad you shared your pics. I have a question though. It looks like you used the stock luv arms with the pinto rack. Was the rack used due to a clearance issue with the Buick engine?

mytmouz The rack was installed for several reasons, one was it took about 40-45 lbs off the front,it steers allot better and more precise, and the fact that i like rack steering as well as nobody seems to do it.As for clearance the steer shaft would have cleared easily but the advantages of rack steering are the way to go.

Thanks for the info tj. I've been considering a swap to a rack, which was the reason for my post.

The first thing i liked about the rack steering was it was allot easier to steer while setting still almost like power

Nah sorry.

Off its/his guts. Would be someone who is very very drunk. Or something that is way beyond repair.

So what i was saying is that disc rotor is stuffed.

Are the hubs that you are using 6 lug? How hard would it be to use the stock luv steering with those spindles? Nice setup Btw. 8)

Dan the spindles and calipers are the stock 78 LUV one's that were on the truck all i changed was the hub/rotor asy's,but i drilled them first of course. The pic's in the start of this thread are the spacers and the dimensions of the spacers.I used the toyota bearings but the luv spindle nut and washer.I didn't weigh them but the rotors are at least half the weight of the stock rotors.Oh and i used Moroso wheel studs.

another thing, i have seen some places replace the spindle snout only, where the brngs ride. what is wrong with doing that on a luv? if the luv caliper fits ok then use the spindle snout, brngs, and hub without spacers. it has to be welded back on.

I'm not a fan of welding any way on the spindles and i have had this truck past 140 mph and a heated or welded spindle is asking to hang your a$$ out big time. The measurements are the out side of the spacers as i had them made at a tight to press fit. i heated them with a heat gun and installed them with locktight . They are on there to stay as i didn't want them to be turning on the spindle.Dose this help?

They weld the spindles to lower or raise VW spindles, but it will move your wheels out about a half inch on each side... Most of those never see a hundred much less 140mph  They have been doing this for years, but those who do it, have tons of experance doing it. They may Tig weld it, and retemper it too.
