I am going to sand and prep it myself, any advice. if I use a spray can for primer, what kind should I use, I am going to run it to macco and have the 300.00 special. before it get's there I will remove the grill and marker lights, side mirror, and after it is there I'll take out the tail lights etc. I think I will do it back yellow.

Hey if you got time and few skills, save yourself about $200 and check out the "$50 paint job".

I have been experimenting after reading extensivly on the subject. And I plan to do my Luv in about 2 weeks. The steel box I tried it out on looks awesome, already half as good as a single stage spray job and I haven't even buffed it yet.

I've been reading up on that, but I don't have a garage, and I am expecting a large bonus at work, and then my severence pay. over ten years at my job and they lay everyone off after they sell, 10 more days and I am jobless....

Yikes! If I were expecting to get laid off I wouldn't even consider a paint job. But if you do, it sounds like the extra time off option (The "$50 paint job") is right up your alley.

Regarding the primer, I think you'll find it cheaper to buy the professional primer that you have to mix and spray, even after purchasing a cheap harbor freight gun. The cost per volume of the rattle can paint is not cost effective for a whole truck. And your finger gets tired pretty quick holding down that little push button.

And lastly, I just wanted to thank Pee-Roy for his avatar. It took me 10 minutes to read this rather small post... distracting.

I would also like to thank PeeRoy for his avatar. I also found it really hard to read what he had written... Pee Roy you are a scholar and a gentleman. 8O
