Call the driveshaft shop you plan on going to and ask them what they need, not all of them measure the length the same way. Is the motor and tranny in the truck? When I had mine made, they had me go from center of ujoint to center of U-joint.

What a gripping topic.

Planning on doing this by hand?

You better get a hold of yourself first.

I'll be entertaining you all here all week folks...so drive carefully...and don't forget to tip your bartender and waitress before you go.

(Sorry everyone..I just couldn't resist the temptation...lol)

on a previous longbed v8 swap, with a th350 and an s10 rearend, the driveline was 69 1/2 inches.

now depending what rearend and where you put your motor, and the added length of the 700r4, im guessin youll be in the 62-66inch length area. thats if you make it a one piece shaft also.

I have been told to install the yolk into the tranny tail and pull it out one inch. Measure from the center of the universal joint clamp on it, to the center of the universal joint clamp on the rear end. Both clamps need to be in a horizontal position and the truck needs to be sitting on the ground as if ready to drive. Let the drive shaft shop know what this dimension is and the method of getting this measurement.

That sounds right...but it would probably be best to trailer or tow the truck to them if you can.

Usually, if you ask real nice and polite, you can get them to help you install it for nothing if they have the truck there, since it's a simple one-piece driveline.

If you want a stronger tranny go with the T400 for automatics
