Does anyone know if a 1991 Geo Prism motor would work in my little LUV, 4x4?

What I mean to ask is, will that motor in the little geo prism be a direct drop in/bolt on to stock 4spd or will I need the motor mounts and a different transmission?

Thank you all so much for your help, in advance.

that motor would not be a direct bolt in especially since it's a 4x4

The only dirrect bolt in motor for the 4X4 is a LUV 4X4 motor with the special 4X4 pan. Did you bite off more then you can chew?

If I am not mistaken the 75 engine is the early model that wont fit the later model trans and such. Early model= intake and exhaust on 1 side Late=intake and exhaust on different sides and starter on opposite side of early.

Hey, everybody here seems to be offering a helping hand. I posted asking for help. Greed has nothing to do with reviving a dead classic.

If you can help, then great. Otherwise, kindly keep your comments to yourself. It's counter productive.

I'll keep that option open.

Becareful, wouldn't want any hater's to think your getting ... "greedy"... or anything.

I swear, some people have no "cents" and without any intention of making any. They just keep stiring the shit they're already in.

I suppose if we all lived in a place where the sun shines but a couple days out of the year, We'd have nothing better to do but stir shit up either.

What a loser!

Did you read that post of mine about that engine? I am sure it will not work in your application.

Look...since you were a lurker and now you are a newbie here...I'll make this real simple for you:

While you are out looking for an engine for a truck that you kinda poached away from an old-time member here that really needed it...tough guy...why don't you pick up a sense of humor and sign up for some anger management classes while you are at it.

Because the last time I checked...barking at people and ordering them around for making a little joke when you want something from them just doesn't really work out that well.

So if you are going to get your undies all in a bunch and go all "keyboard warrior" just because you just snagged a free truck that is going to cost you quite a few bucks to get it all pimped out...and a few of us are teasing you a little bit about it...then you might want to think long and hard about whether you really want our help here or not.

We are a pretty casual and friendly bunch here that tends to rib each other a bit sometimes...because that's what big people that get trucks that they already know how to fix up do...but we still do try our best to help and support each other here as much and as often as possible.

There is already plenty of useful helpful information here for you to find...if you bother to appreciate and respect all of the hard work it took to put it here in the first place...and bother to take the time to do a search for it.

And if you mind your manners...then we all still just might try to help you out a bit.

So lighten up...knock off the name calling...and lose the attitude...FFS.

Hey part time. luvrv8 is correct. the newer motor came out in 76 I think. anyway, we're in the same boat. I'm looking for an engine for my 79 4x4. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a second runner. it occurs to me that if you can't find one , we could put one on a pallet and truck ship it to s. cal for less than the cost of a rebuild kit. if i can find them that is. Good luck E.
