I have never seen an original LUV radio before, but I have one now. It's an original am only. This guy has an old cab that is mounted on an old military frame, and he told me that I could have whatever I wanted. I needed the drivers door glass and vent window, but when I saw the radio, I just had to get it too. :D I don't think that I will use it, but I wanted it anyway.

Nice work. I know most people don't like AM radios but I like original things and frankly like a lot of the AM talk radio programs. Am I getting old?

Anyhow, if you ever want to get rid of it let me know.

I don't know if it works, but I plan on finding out. I need to check and see if I can find out how it wires up. I would hate to fry it.

Rondog:

If you are interested in selling it shoot me a PM with a price. I assume it will fit the '75 dash w/o issue. Anyone know for sure?

luvmikado:

With that radio there shouldn't be more than about 4 wires. 1 for power, 1 for ground and the + & - for that hi-fi mono speaker. lol.

Intersting... Looking at the overview in the manual for '75 it shows a speaker lead that plugs into a seperate spot on the radio from the power lead. However, the wiring diagram shows the radio having a 4 wire plug containing power, both speaker wires and the antenna. I would assume then that the radio is chassis grounded.

The '75 manual shows the power connections as such:
Power - Blue
Antenna - Brown with black stripe (that should be easy to see :-) )
Speaker connection 1 - Brown with Yellow stripe
Speaker connection 2 - Brown with Red stripe

Good luck testing it out,
Eric Q.

This one only has three wires. Two that are speaker wires. I know that because they were still hooked up, but the other one was loose. It is blue. I figured it was a power wire. I guess that it is grounded when it is bolted in the dash. I just want to make sure before I try it out.

I'm pretty sure that the blue wire is the power.

Do the speaker wires match what I posted above? If so then I would bet money that the blue wire also matches. Go for it.

yep, I got one in my 80 still works. Sounds good too. I really don't to pull it out and replace it, but am getting tired of just am. So, I figure if I can mount a newer model radio somewhere else no one would really no the difference if I turn on the am radio and it lights up. Kind of sneaky but who cares. I'll still be original to a point albeit a small one that is

I plan on putting this one in my truck, but mounting my cd player in the glove box. That way it looks original, but will still rock.

I'm trying to design a console to go between the seats. Not much room really, and it's frustrating. My new radio am/fm is 7 in. x 7in. x 1-1/2 inch. You would think that would be easy to do, not so my friend, the glove box sounds better and better all the time.
