I Am Not Positive But I Believe ALL S10's Have The Same Width Rear Axel's, The Newer Models Are Most Likely Going To Be Posi, But As Already Said Weaker. Find A Mid 80's 2.8 4x4 If You Want A 411 Gear. Most 4.3's Are 342's I Believe. If By A Stroke Of Luck You Find A GMC Typhon or Syclone. They Had A Beafier Rear Diff. Stead Of A 7.5 They Had A 8.5 And Came With Rear Disc Brakes. But Are EXTREMELY Hard To Find.

I Believe They Are All Metric. OH and FYI If You Swap The Ring Gear On A Newer Model 7.5 10 Bolt They Are Left Handed Treads, Right RedLUV80? LOL
Don't Ask How He Knows.

Yeah It Sounds Like It Should Preform A Little Better Then Stock.

they are the same width, most common gears 3.08-3.42-3.73. Have a good drive shaft built. I broke a stock one at a little over 6000 rpm.IT was not good at all.

I once dropped a driveline in a 72 chevelle doing like 70 mph. Scared me to death as I didnt know what the noise was. I remember pulling over onto the dirt beside the road and locking up the brakes to a dead stand-still.

correct me if i am wrong, but i thought the 4x4 s-10 rear ends were a couple inches wider than the 2wd ones (which are a smidge wider than the LUV stocker). as for gear ratios, there were two different groups and ring and pinion from the smaller group like 2:73 and 3:98 don't swap to the bigger ones like a 3:42. I had an S-10 with the 3:42 rear and it was a good mix on takeoff and highway rpms...

You are correct in that the 4X4 S-10 rear end is wider then the 2WD, and the 2WD is a bit wider then a LUV.

I Was Just Saying If He Is In Search Of A 411 Gear That A 2.8 4x4 Would Have It.
