Is why would this kill the motor or what could have caused this to die and not start again?

This sounds tough to figure out without seeing the truck. But im guessing that the starter solenoid has gone bad. And it's possible that the charging system couldn't keep up with the voltage loss. Not enough battery power means the ignition got weak to the point that it couldn't fire.
It sounds outragious but this is what im thinking.
Pull the starter and get it checked. Put the battery on a charger and see if it ran low. Tell us what you found out thus far.

could be some kind of short with the ignition switch itself. turned the starter on and the ignition off. just an idea. if he was cruizin down the freeway it probly did strip the teeth on something. hopefully just mucked up the teeth on your starter. probly didn't engage enough to strip the flywheel. we can hope :( good luck. :D

Maybe all the vibration from that rap crap shifted things over and now he has to learn his lesson that human ears were not meant for that kind of abuse!!

I hope you get it figured out and tell the forum what is was. I'm not too good with diagnosing sounds. With all the wiring complaints I read, it sounds like the ignition switch must have shorted.

Best of Luck...
