is a 1988 4.3l Chevy V6 . is the flywheel the same as the 1 on a 350?

Allot of 4.3's used the 153 tooth flywheels some the 168 and the can be used off a 350 just remember to use the right starter.Stager mount 168 straight mount 153.

The only externally balanced SBC was the 400.

Not so some of the late 80's 305's and i think some 350's with the full circle cranks had external balanced flexplates :?

I would have thought that the V6 flywheel would have been externally ballanced too considering how complicated the crank shafts are to get the firing order. But then i dont know much about them.

283, 302, 305, 327, 350, 4.3 V6 & V8 Are All Internally Balanced

400 Is The Only SBC Thats Externally Balanced From The Factory.
(Almost Completely Positive)

The full circle crank engines had balance pads on the flexplates because there was no balance pad on the back of the crank.
