so the other night i had the hood off the truck, so i took it in the garage, wiped it down, and put another coat of rattle can flat black on it. it was getting kinda faded anyways, so what the hell. so i get the paint on and it looked good. since the hood was all one color now, i decided to put some new pinstriping on the front on it. i got goin, and it was goin ok. my can of white paint is goin stale i guess.

anyways, i was paintin and the pinstriping that was there before, which is under the new black, started raisin on me. so, me being not smart, i took a rag with some thinner and tried to wipe off the wet new paint. yeah... that didnt work too well. i started wipin up paint from when i first painted it black. so now im sittin there with a nasty mess of soft paint. now what i really needed right then was some sandpaper, but i didnt have any. so i went for the next best thing. a wire brush...

yeah so it got alot of the soft paint off, but it wasnt like i though it would be. so i grabbed a razor blade and started peelin off the crap. i finally got it to where it looked like it was good to go. so i sprayed another coat of the cheapy rattle can on it, and let it dry. when it looked dry i ran my finger accross it and it just rippled up. guess i didnt get the thinner off all the way...

so, finally all the way ticked off, i went to walmart and picked up one of them paint stripper things that goes on a drill. also picked up 2 more can of paint, and a roll of masking tape.
got back to the house and started goin to town on the hood with the stripper (lol that didnt sound right). this was about 230 in the mornin, and i finally gave up at 6am. got almost done with it but my haggard drill was starting to smoke pretty good.

so today i finished strippin the hood. went and got some sandpaper earlier, so i knocked down all the high spots, and tnen sparyed a coat of primer on it and sanded it smooth, and then again. so now the hood is got 2 nice thick coats of primer on it and is all sanded smooth and stuff.

now, this all started by ne just wanting to put some new pinstriping on the hood, so... i put some new pinstriping on the hood! it aint done yet due to needing it to dry to go on, but heres a little teaser of what its gonna look like.

Ha! Good story.
If the hood ends up lookin good, and your teaser pic leads me to believe it will, you'll at least be able to take pride in the completed job if not the process...
