not a clue here man, but if you run into a problem maybe we could help.
get some pictures while the buildup is in progress....I would like to see them.

are you going to weld in some motor mounts?
might be easier to do that than adapt.

Since a 4.3 is baically a small block chevy V-8 with the end 2 cylinders chopped off, you can buy some block hugger headers for a Chevy V-8 and do just that... chop off the end tubes and weld up the collector. BAM Instant headers for your conversion.

I am of the same mind as the above guest(register dammit!!).
Since the 4.3 is a smallblock with 2 cyl removed, the V8 conversion kits should work for you. His header idea is interesting, but I believe you could find some 4.3 application headers that will wor fine, and look a tad more professional in the end.
As for the wiring, go buy a good manual for the Astro, that has very detailed wiring diagrams. Since you have the factory harness, you have a bunch of wires in there that you will not use. In order to make a clean install, you will need to find these wires and remove them from the harness. Some of these may include smog controls(if you are in a state that doesnt require them), a/c control, cruise control, etc.
The main thing to do with is is to connect all the sensors and accesories you will be keeping, hook up the ground and the 12v power, and mont the computer somewhere inside the car(preferably). Here is a suggestion for running the wire bundle thru the firewall. You will need to make a fairly large hole in the firewall to get the large sensor plugs thru. I think i made a 1.75" hole in my truck. To fill this hole in, and keep a good seal around the wiring, i used a 1 piece CV boot i bought at Pep Boys. Make sure it is a 1 piece and not the split type. I then cut the larger end off to where i had the small hole(where the axle normally goes) on one end, and a large lip on the other. The large lip goes toward the engine compartment. It seals the firewall great, and holds very tight around the wiring.

Hey,all

The setup pretty simple.I installed a 1991 4.3l turbo syclone motor in my 1980 luv truck. What i did for mount i used originals but modified them i had to cut down the bracket (what moto mount bolts up to thru bolt)the reason why the motor was going to seat to high in engine bay.I used a 700r4 tranny built a plate for the tranny mount that went from the mount to the cross memeber verry short peace but used thick metal. The rear came from a 1977 chevell wagon fully loaded bid momma the rear was 31 spline 8.5 housing .The rear was shorten down to the original size of old rear.If you more deeper discription let me no i will help you as much as i can

won't work... the exhaust ports on the 4.3 heads are all equal distance apart not siamesed like the center ports of the V-8

where did this guy go. I am obsessed with turbo input. progress report please!

that motor had to be spendy. I would think guys would be lined up to pull that out of the wrecked donor rig. It would HAVE to be wrecked, youde be crazy to pull that motor out and put it into a luv.Although I couldnt think of a batter recipient.
