Hello, I joined a while back and would like to ask for some help. I have a '79 two wheel drive Luv. I would like to put a 4.3 in my truck. Is there any special tips or suggestions that I need to know before I start, to make it easier. Any problems that anyone ran into and wish they would have done first?

Nice truck. Nice Big picture! 8O

4.3 should go in just like a 350, only you should have a little extra room, cuz it's two cylinders shorter

hey could you resize your avatar please.

anyways. the 4.3 will go in just like v8. like stated before youll have more room, as the thing is a v6.

New to the game, sorry about the large picture. Thanks for the info, a few more questions. Will I use the motor mounts from the 4.3 or will I have to fab a special one? Is there a trans anyone would reccomend? I would like to keep a manual trans. Reading alot on the site I have found I should use a rearend from an S-10, most of which I believe are a five lug pattern. Whats the best way to change the front hubs to a five lug pattern? Will I have to fab a crossmember for the trans, or is there one I can use? I have never seen any of this done and I am really interested in learning as I go through this. It is nice to know their are other LUV junkies out there. These are really some cool trucks.

well if your wanting to 4.3 it and keep it a manual, id say find yourself a wrecked or something s10 that had the 4.3/5 speed and pirate everything from that. motor, trans, rearend driveline even maybe too.

Sorry Blove22 I've already swapped for buckets. Does anyone know if the radiator will work for the 4.3 or will I have to get a newer larger one.

I would recomend getting a bigger one as the original rad. is barely able to keep the 1.8 cool, either that or have the original recored to a 3 core( not shure on that though, one of the other guys may be able to confirm that)
