So i drive out to pick up an engine for the 48. Its not that the flathead six in it isnt anygood, its just that a flathead 8 is that much cooler 8)
Anyhow i get the engine $100. get it back to base and start tearing it down in the bed of my truck. First thing i do is pull the lifter galley covers and turn it over, everything works perfectly. So the guy was talking about a problem with some pistons, well i can hear the engine making compresion so i decide to pull the head. Everything look in order, a few valves are kinda toasty as is one piston, but hey its 50 year old engine  So i start turning it over by hand with the head off, everything works. There no ridges on the cylinders and no scoring either. I have to say this is about the best $100 i have spent! So here soon the 48 Pontiac will be getting a stright 8 dropped in 8)

Awesome, if you need parts for it check out Egge Performance, they have all that hard to find stuff.

actually its alot smaller than i thought it would be. Its taller than anything i have ever seen though. Its about 34" long and id say about 20" tall. Gotta remeber its just a 250cu engine also, perty small for an 8cylinder realy.

Yeah that is a small 8, I have a 250 six and a 292 six. But that is still sweet.
