that's fine .....re read that post a little closer and you'll notice that the possible problem is not the carb, but the wiring between it and the engine speed sensor.

just hotwire the solinoid..... see if it helps...... the problem was intermittent on my truck. that solinoid is the only thing that can stop fuel between the fuel line and the bowl.

i know what i'm talking about so if you're gonna dismiss my advice without even checking to see if it will help, then you really don't want it and i'll stop offering.

yes it will run with the throttle open if the solinoid isn't open

my truck would stop idiling intermittently and i'd have to crack the throttle open slightly to get it to run and it ran fine on the freeway in this condition.

if you're worried about screwing up your wiring get 2 alligator clips and 3 foot of 12 gau or thicker wire to jumper it with. you ain't gonna hurt anything trying this. just don't drive it around till you get it hooked up to the hot lead to the coil.

it ran for 6 months hotwired before i scored a weber and i never had it happen after that.

Thanks bob..... you're probably the only person i've heard say that in a long while........

FYI chavy, if there's a throttle plate or anything like that on a vehicle, it has to stay partly open.... engines need air to run, if they closed ALL the way they'd just shut off.... Maybe yours wasn't opened up enough at idle to supply the air it needed.
