Just had to post...
I picked up 2 9" rears for $100 apiece from a wrecking yard that's closing. One is a big bearing 3.15 open and the other is a 3.50 trac-loc.
Not bad for drum to drum rears...plus I checked the numbers on the rear of the pickup bed trailer my dad said I could have... also a 9" with open 3.89, the housing is the old style with the rounded back..kinda cool

So I am a pretty happy camper, 3 rears for a couple of bones :D

not bad at all. I used to get my 9's from a local ford guy for 75-150 each they were small bearing and complete so i would imagine he paid like 20 bucks for them at the wrecking yard. I could get a big bearing disk brake (marquis or versaille)complete for about 200. that was years ago... I'm afraid to see what they go for now. there are a couple yard around that still only charge $50 for a used Th350 trans AND they gurantee them to work.

They had housings with disk brakes from some lincolns no 3rd members for $100. And even though they are closed to the public now they still wanted $175 for a th350! Guaranteed to work...I'm thinking "Guaranteed? How the hell ya gonna guarantee something when the business is gone!"

wow. TH350's are getting rare these days i guess. $175 for a junkyard trans. I never thought I'd see the day.

I believe the going rate on a complete versaille rear end is about $425-$450 from a private party around here. $100 minus center chunk is not bad considering you would probably want to regear it anyway.

You guys are lucky.

Diffs are big bucks over here.
Theres a 9" housing cut to 41" with ladder bars on eBay for $250.

You wouldnt get a stock diff complete for that price here even an open 2.7.

The Borg Warner 78 diff is a more common conversion here. The Hilux diffs are popular too.

Bob.
