PostPosted: Mon Apr 10, 2006 4:27 pm
I AM DOING A V8 SWAP IN MY 79 LUV AND WAS WONDERING IF IT IS GOING TO TAKE A SPEACIAL OIL PAN. AND WHERE I CAN FIND THOSE HEADERS FOR THE SWAP WITHOUT PAYING 500 BUCKS FOR THEM!

No special oil pan required. as far as the headers, once in a great while they come up on ebay. Other than that it's pretty much Summit or Jegs...

LUVRestoration had them but since they are closed now, I guess that won't be of any help to you.

The Hooker instructions say to use an oil pan from a Z-28 Camaro for front cross member clearance; is this not true?

I think you can use any pan, besides maybe something from a 4x4 :?

You can use many oil pans, but I wouldn't say "any". It needs to clear the crossmember. Most aftermarket extended capacity pans of reasonable size should work. I think most use a 6qt pan from Moroso or Milodon.
