As some of you might have read, I own a 80 4WD stocker with 500,000 miles on it. Documented. I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Idaho section or here, but I figure more LUV-dudes would enjoy this story in this section. Anyway, I have a 1980 LUV on its second engine, original tranny and actually, it has the original starter off of the first engine when I swapped them out. That's a half-million miles on a starter, not to mention the rest of the truck.
My kid wants to borrow it so he can load up some branches and bushes he cut out of his yard. He loads it all up and discovers he doesn't have enough room in the truck and doesnt want to make a second trip to the dump. Ok, call Dad and ask him how big of a trailer will the LUV drag, he asks. He tells me it is one of those little bolt-together ones you buy for a hundred bucks and it only has tree trimmings on it. I figure, what the heck, how much can he have to take to the dump? I tell him be careful, don't twist the innards out of the beast and take it easy.
He calls me after he gets back and tells me about the weigh-slip receipts. 1250 pounds of yard trimmings!!!! 1250 between the truck and trailer! He said it pulled it like a champ, a little slow going up the hill to the dump. For anyone that is familiar with this area, (here is where the Idaho guys would appreciate this) the last few miles to the dump is uphill, aboujt 10-12 % grade!!.
The ol' LUV is tougher than I ever thought. 500,000 miles, loaded with 1250 lbs of weight...original paid price of $400, 20 years ago, with another $500 over the years invested in. ( tires, brakes, etc) Chevy ought to pay me to own this thing.

WOW that's alot of miles. My 76 has only a whopping 63,000.
Even with two motors, that's pretty amazing...

Oh yea. I've looked at it before. Nice truck. I like you door panels. They turned out clean .
I sure you've answered this question on here before.... What is the seat(s)out of? I like the way they look in there.
