Once again my tunnel ram is giving me more problems. I need to figure out how to get my tranny some vacume (TH 350). My intake doesnt have any vacume ports and my Carbs(2X Holley 4160) only have 1 direct vacume port. Also I will need more vacume for my distributor and my brake booster. I think I can live with out the brake booster but the trans and distributor are a must. I dont want to convert my transmission to full manual. Should I drill and tap a hole in the manifold? Other than that I dont know what I should do.

While reading your post, 1st thing I thought was to drill and tap, so I guess that would be my suggestion if you have the stuff to do it! Good luvk!!!!!!!!

Drilling and tapping shouldnt be a problem as far as doing it goes. Just finding the right place and figuring the right size.

There isnt any room between the dist. and the manifold I allready had to get rid of my HEI for clearance reasons. Vacume lines suck and they look ugly.

I mean in the manifold, just infront of your dist.

well I see now  If your running a tunnel ram then you would probably have to go at an angle. So just go below the back carb down some. I hope you do get it going before April too!!!!!

I havn't, but I will ask one of our maintenance guys here at work. He has a race car, and knows a ton about it. So I will run this by him, and see what he suggest.

I guess I could probably put spacers under my carb and drill and tap into one of those rather than drill into my manifold. Either route I go its still going to look like crap in my opinion.

Yeah actually Bodyman mentioned doing that last night. I am not really excited about fabricating the brackets for that but I also kind of came up with a solution that if it works it will solve one more problem with my throttle linkage. Im thinking I am going to get a couple of carb spacers and just drill into the rear one.

that might work if your cam doesnt have alot of duration. i tried that on my rod but the duration was to big but good luck.

Just out of curiosity what would happen if I ran the distributor off of the direct direct vacuum port on the carb. If I remember right someone said it wouldnt work but I didnt get an explanation behind it.

if the dist. had vacume all the time it would be advanced all the time you could do away with the vacume to the dist. if you go to the parts store and get a dist. curve kit i comes with weights and lighter springs so you can make it advance at what ever rpm you want

Hey Gabe depending on how radical the cam is in that motor, there may be no point in tapping into a vacuum source anyway. But you could run the vac advance off full manifold vacuum maybe.. I ran the dist in my nova with vac advance and I hated it.. it made my 60' times go in the toilet, and it causes a slight stumble, and with small tires i need all the "shock" I can put to the rear to make the suspension 'work' and hook the car..

So to make a long story short, you're only big concern is the vacuum booster for the brakes, and im not up on manual conversion stuff just yet. odds are i wont have any vacuum either to run the booster, so a manual conversion would be handy!
