Does anyone know how to go about getting a title for an old truck with no title? The truck is sitting in a field, where it has been sitting for 15 years. I dont know who the original owner is, and neither does the owner of the field. Is there anyway I could go about getting some kind of salvage title or something without the original owner needing to be contacted? I don't want to risk them not wanting to get rid of their truck.

if the owner of the field will give you the truck get the info off the door go to DMV and tell them the truck has been abounded in the field for how ever many years sense the last year on the tags and tell them you want a title for the abounded truck most states will work this easy as long as there is no current lean on the truck they may ask for a bill of sale from the land owner or the may require him to file for title because he is the land owner an entitled to any property left there or abounded after 90 days. As a 450 unit apartment manager in upland California years ago I ended up with a 73 Pontiac formula 400 this way they guy left it there for about 6 months and we put in for the abounded title

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I hope its that easy here in Texas. I suppose I'll call up the DMV in the next couple days.
