about a week ago my drivers door latch would only hook about 1/3 of the time and this afternoon i pulled the panel off and shot some pb blaster in there and now nothing. About 1 year ago it did the same thing but when I shot some stuff in there it worked like a champ again. Is this a common thing to go wrong and if I take the four screws off by the latch will it just fall out so I can switch it with my parts truck?

If you're talking about the striker, yes. If it is the latch in the door no. You'll have to remove the linkage rods to the lock and door handles before you can remove it. It isn't difficult though.
