You can't really re-drill the spindles they're bolted to the suspension but you can re-drill the hubs which is what the wheels are bolted to and allow it to spin on bearings. But most people just deal with it and get new rims-n-tires.

Ok, I am looking into this, but is still fresh for me. Does any LUV truck in the latter years have a 5-lug pattern?
On my Camaro, it is 5 on 4-3/4 centers, and on my C10 it is 5 on 5.
I am guessing that the S-10 rear 10-bolt is a 5 on 4-3/4 pattern?

Are there any discussions here on front disc set-ups or swap outs for these chassis's???
Anything here on 4-wheel disc set-ups in these trucks ???

no later LUV has the five lug pattern. The S-10 is 5 x 4 3/4 same as the Camaro. You can sometimes find a local machine shop to redrill your stock 6 lug rotors for a 5 lug pattern. A lot of them won't though. You can also search on here for Vega rotor conversions as a guy on here has done this and made it work. You can get the s-10 rear with disc brakes or you can find a conversion kit for it. It would be a lot cheaper to find a factory rear disk rear though.

Thanx!
As I have considered this on my Camaro, the brake metering is also an issue if I chose to go 4-wheel discs....
So, I guess an appropriate Master Cylinder balancing the pressures correctly is required; that leaves us with the GM stock LUV set-up.
So, I wonder what I would select that could bolt up to the power booster?
I just read that post here that Moser can redrill the rotors; that's good!
I am looking at buying a 74 shortbed.
So, I guess I need to locate the correct later years discs assemlies that bolt right up; backing plates out!
I think I read somewhere here that the S-10 rear axle bolts right up the the stock leaf springs! Changing the driveshaft ends to mate up to my set-up is necessary...I get that.
Is the S-10 10 Bolt the larger 8.5 series?
I have an old 10-Bolt out of my 69 Camaro and I am unsure whether it is an 8.2 or an 8.5???
Thoughts and suggestions????
Thanx!

Moser quit redrilling the rotors so you'll have to find a local place to do it.
The S-10 rear is supposed to bolt in place and be just a very minor amount wider.. like less than an inch. I have heard you need to use the splitter block for the brakes off the isuzu rear but other than that it bolts right up. The S-10 had a 8.5 and a smaller 7.?? rear and I'm not sure which is a 10 bolt but I think it's the 8.5. There were some good ratios available for the S-10 though. My S-10 has a 3.42 whihc would be a decent rear for a V-8/Auto truck.
As for brakes, I think you could use the stock master cylinder with an adjustable proportioning valve to set it right for the brakes. Probably could find the disk brake setup off a newer S-10 blazer as they would probably be the ones ordered with them.

So I assume the reference to the rear splitter block is based upon the brake size change of the drums for required volume of pressure?

So, I guess I can remove the factory axle, toss it, and install this S10 axle right in with the LUV stock fastening parts?...sans the driveshaft.

I looked and noticed a 10-Bolt having a 54" and 56" flange to flange measurement. I guess I am looking for the 54" unit? That must be the refercing to the models up to 93 stated here on this site? Saw a couple of late model disc brake rear axle units for sale thru the guy in Florida on eBay, must be a different axle?

What is the end to end measurement for the stock rear axle in LUV trucks?

the splitter block change is due to the end fittings on the lines. I might be wrong on this swap and you might just need to bolt this sucker in. I don't know the actual flange to flange measurement but it had been posted up on this site before so you should be able to find it. I believe it was between 53 and 54 inches. I don't know if there is a difference in length of the S-10 axles from first to second generation. But even a 2" width difference is no a big issue as long as the mounting is the same. The width can be taken up with backspacing the rims.

Some of the S10 guys are usine the ford explorer 8.8 rearend, but it is like 3" wider on each side. They use differnt rims or just let it hang out.. I know they are doing it like this to save money, but I think it is a little much. The right year explorer has rear disks too.

The later 8.5 rearend is better.I think It didn't come out till the 2 gen body style. 92-93?
