I was 128 ft. long all together. The trailer (opened up) is 90ft.
We are getting 2 new trailers soon. They will be steerable via remote control from the rear pilot car to help around corners. That will make life SO much nicer.
Now that I look at it, I should have got some closer pics.

Vacation time! :D :D :P

I'm leaving tonight for Grass Valley, Ca. To my Dad's, to do some relaxing, beer drinking and water skiing/wave runnering, (not in that particular order). My son and I are going to play with my dad's 56 Ford F100 (real truck) and our nitro 4x4 trucks(toys). Instead of taking the ford truck and camper, this time we are going in luxury (sort of). Going to put the Galaxy, (that's what my buddy named our new Ford 500), on the road and see what kind of mileage it will get.

So on to I5 again. In the big truck, I was up in Merced Tuesday home on wednesday,(that was on 99), up to Hayward on Wed. night and home last night. So here we go again. At least I know where all the bumps are.

Well, we made it. With 2 adults, 3 teenagers, and all our stuff, we got 24 mpg. Running about 70/75 mph. I easily held 70mph with the cruise control on up the grapevine. The 500 is a little rough and noisy ridding, but it is a pretty nice car. Which is a good thing cause we will probably have it for 10 or more years.

Myself, 3 teenagers and our stuff coming home at 70/75 mph. We held 26 mpg. I filled up in Auburn and we made it home!!! I filled up here at home and it only took 17 gallons! I'm impressed. Oh, And I took it to 100 mph for about a mile,(out on I 5), and it would easily have gone much more. It handled very nice up in the mountains. I got home and saw that I got some literature on the new Ford Fusion. It is supposed to become the new NASCAR car for Ford. It looks like it's a little smaller than the 500. It comes with a 4 banger or a 210 hp v 6. My 500 only offers a 205 hp v 6. So, I'll check it out when I can, but we will be keeping this one for a long time.

O.K. O.K. enough of the F word... back to Chevys now.

I took this cruise ship prop from L.A. harbor to San Francisco harbor this week. I was 18 feet wide and had CHP escort the whole way. WE ran at night. Wed. and Thurs. night.
The CB was going crazy as the chp would make the trucks pull over on the shoulder while we went buy, right down the middle of the 2 lanes.

I went up and down the grapevine in the #1and#2 lanes. For trucks the speed limit down the grapevine is 35. I had my Jake Brake holding me at 43, and I passed every one. They were all bitching on the radio. "How come he can do that??" The CHP told me go as fast as I could. We have to go to work in the morning. We all settled in at about 65mph.
It was bitchen. Following the flashing lights will drive you crazy after a while but running red lights and making people get out of my way for a change was cool.

BTW, It weighed about 45000lbs. We had to have lights on it to run at night. So we use orange christmas lights and put a generator on the trailer to run them. I had 3 CHPs the first night and 4 on the second night.

This is supposed to be looking at the back of the pilot car and 2 CHPs.

I leave in the morning to take a couple 20ft. containers(yea I know, Boring)from Victorville Ca. to Leadville Co. It's south west Denver.

Yes I have. I don't know anything about them , but do see them on the road. I see more of the Stevens and they seem to always be clean and have pretty good trucks. I think Roehl has more generic trucks, no bells and whistles Know what I mean?

Good luck to you. A lot of guys change companies like they change their underwear. So if you don't like it after 3-6 months, try another.

See ya on the road. 8)

Well, off to Houston again. The last time I was there it took 20 hrs. to get 200 miles away because of Rita.
This time 3 of us are hauling these really big crates (about 35000lbs. and 11ft. wide, 15ft. tall and 20 ft. long.)
Then we will haul wind mill blades to somewhere in Iowa. Then who knows what home. Should be fun. I'm in charge of two new guys (should be interesting  )
