The bearing that supports the driveshaft, it looks toasted.Got the new part, checked my haynes book and it says to plug the hole that the driveshaft comes outta. My question,is it going to gush oil? Should I drain the tranny first?

if you have the truck nose high, it'll leak a fair amount of tranny lube. I'd drain it and save the mess and put in fresh when you're done.

as long as you blocked the front wheels real well, that should work just fine... shouldn't leak much then..

had to walk to the hardware store for a socket big enough to get the companion flange off but I got .The old donut was so one sided! I think if I could have just replaced that it woulda been just as good. Got rid of my 4th gear noise,Hurray!Oh yeah the ramps under the back wheels w/my garages floor like it is worked fine, not a drop of oil.
