 Post subject: engine swap

i own a chevy scottsdale 3/4ton pickup and it has a bare stock 350 in it. my friend is selling his cadillac and it has a big block 425 in it, should i do the switch? how much horsepower does a 425 have in it? thanks, stan morris

i think the caddy engine has like 325 hp. the main thing that they have is torque. i think the 425 is rated at 400ft lb of torque. another tinig that you will have to do to do the swap is a different tranny. the caddy has a different bellhousing pattern. but yeah the caddy motro would be an excelent candidate for a swap.

is there a plate that i can get so that the engine will fit the tranny? i have a four speed transmission with a low. so it's pretty much a three speed with a low. i want to keep this transmission because it's a stick.
