One other thing you might consider is putting a late 80s-early 90s Camaro 5 speed behind that motor and you will be able to drive it on the highway for long distances and get way better mileage. My buddy has a 65 Chevelle with a 383 pushing 550 HP with that 5 speed. It acts just like your 4 speed does for city driving and cruises 70MPH at about 17-1800 RPM in 5th gear. 8O Best of both worlds IMO.
