Sounds like an excellent idea to me. I was thinking about doing the same thing. Right now I'm working on a way to fabricate some 6 to 5 lug wheel adapters.

maybe a front bumper for a 78 style luv would be cool. you cant find very many good metal bumpers around here in idaho. oh and maybe a roll pan for the 78 style. like something where you cut the metal out and blend in the pan. that would be pretty neat. hey are you strickly a luv part maker. i would really like some 'glass fenders for my s10 and like a bumber and front valance too. just wondering.

How much lighter could fiberglass be? I can see the bed being lighter but the fenders and stuff are really light as they are, like the fiberglass cowl i got weighed about as much as the hood itself.

It all depends on how strong you want to make it or what materials you use, it can weigh about the same or save lots of weight. The bed I was talking about was the stepside ,box would be metal and fenders fiberglass just like they are now

fiberglass fenders would be as heave if not heavier than the sheet metal fenders, the trick would be carbon fiber way lighter.the metal fenders dont whiegh much as it is.

I can go for a weather proof tonneau cover to fit the stepside bed. Maybe even have a thin third brake light molded into the rear edge?????
