I work at a car lot and somebody traded in a Subaru WRX or something like that. Not much into the import stuff, but it was fun beating the hell out of it.

LOL! Sounds like fun. I had a friend that worked at a car lot so I know what happens to those cars. :)

One of the guys I work with has one. Said it's got a porsche boxter engine. It is supposed to have quite a bit of horsepower.

I used to do that at the chvy dealership I worked at. My favorite test drive was a Calloway twin turbo vette. Ahhh what fun!

That would be a horizontally opposed engine. (same as the porsche engines)
they have about 225 at the crank from the factory, but with a couple of modifications they can reach the 300hp mark. Very fun. From what I understand the pre 2004 models had problems with the tranny. I guess because everyone was doing 5,000rpm clutch drops from a dig.

If I had my hands on a Calloway twin turbo vette.....[ferris bueller voice]Would you take it back immediately? [/ferris bueller voice] :D

It was the mayor of Medford's vette. He also had a testarossa. I think he was overpaid :? (His kid totaled the ferrari)
the calloway was having problems... it would die if you didn't have your foot in it... I didn't mind :D

Heard the expression.."drive it like you stole it"........I DID :!: :!:
Ran it about 3 miles on I-55 south WIDE OPEN........'bout scared the *@#T out of me (not the speed, just realized that damn near the whole thing was madeout of fiberglass,& didn't wanna have a wreck in THAT)!!!!!..........I slowed down, & took it back to him :!: :!: :!:

ok. But the dude specifically told me "It has the same motor as a Porsche Boxster". A boxster has a horizontally opposed 6 cyl. After further review, I think he may have been misled by a salesman. Sure his motor is horizontally opposed but at 4 cyl. not 6. Either that or he's a dumbass or he was lying to me.

The regular WRX has a 2.0L 4 cyclinder horizontially opposed engine like those found in Porsches( it IS NOT A PORSCHE ENGINE!!!!!!, Porsche engine, in most cases have larger displacments, are 6 cyclinder, and are non-turbo( with the exception of the 911 Turbo, and GT2) and make more power than the Subaru engines). it makes about 227hp and has all-wheel drive, the high performance model, the WRX STI has a 300hp w/ 300 ft-lbs of torque, 2.5L version of the WRX's engine, both of them are turbo charged ans as with all Subaru's has all-wheel drive. The current generation that we have here in the states is the 6th version of this pocket rocket, that is based on the World Rally Circuit (WRC) cars that Subaru races and they whoop a$$. would Luv to have one for a play toy but 30 large for the STI is a bit much at the moment.
