ALRIGHTY..... who can say that they had 4120+ lbs in the back of a stock(1.8 motor) chevy luv with weight load to spare? http://home.ripway.com/2004-5/112504/52bags.jpg

i've heard of pulling a trailer home ,but that's a trailer........

for the record i had 4 1/2 inches between the rubbers on the rear end.

there's 52 bags of concrete that weigh 60 lbs a piece. plus about another 1000 lbs of tools.

i've never seen a toyota 1/2 ton that could do this and still drive 70 miles to the job site.

DAMN!! You know, I bet she drove sweet with all that weight. My truck drives so much nicer with a load in the back!

Impressive :!: :D
I have hauled some gargantuous loads on my 80 4x4 as well, but i still think the most was when we moved here from colorado. I had the bed packed w house-hold furniture (most is old heavy oak crap) + I had the biggest tandem axle U-haul trailer they make on the back stuffed to the gills. Totalled over 6,000 lbs i hauled, and nearly 400 miles.Back bumper was dragging on aprons pulling in and out of agas stations on the way, but still made the trip w/o a scratch.
This was done BEFORE i installed my new engine, the old engine was still peppy, but everytime i stopped it would over heat and i think i went thru more gallons of water than gas, but well, we are here.
Luvs will haul ALOT of stuff 8O
I would put mine upside a Toyota any day of the week, and show them how it's done :D

how much weight would a bed-full of maple (or) oak logs be? I've had 2 loads in my truck that size in one day... it's not fun being behind me when i got that in there... all that smoke n' all

I've had dirt in the back overflowing the whole bed by about a foot and a half on many occasions when I had the 6 ply tires on it. I don't know how much exactly that weighed, but the gap on the bed opened and closed by 2 inches when I stepped on the gas or let off. I had to put the truck in low range to get started if the ground wasn't perfectly flat. I didn't hit any bumps for fear that the truck would break in half.

Moving the weight is the easy part. Stopping it is something else entirely. Be sure you allow pleeeenty of extra braking distance when overloading your LUVs!

Yeah, gearing down in a Luv doesn't do a whole lot of good with that much weight in the back. Especially with the lack of compression the motor has after 100,000 + miles.

that was cold blooded... 8)
anyway, to be even more off-topic, my odometer has 5-digits. I have NO IDEA how many times it's rolled over. Just thought i'd get that out there.

Well, it's even MORE cold blooded to come in here and try to take over someone elses thread, not to mention totally un-cool. Have you not enough brains to make your own thread about whatever topic you have in mind :?: :!: 8O

Not to be combative, but it pertained to mileage, and i've noticed the same complete lack of compression while hauling lumber. The thread was dead anyway, so its not like i was taking a good thread and turning it in my direction. Had i just made a new topic, i doubt it'd get more than 3 or 4 replies, so i would be a waste of a thread, and i would probably get yelled at for posting worthless crap. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade here :!:
