Anyone running a spool? On the street? I know this is not the reccomended thing to do but...What are the big negatives? The luv doesn't weigh anything, so as long as you have big axles and such?
Any thoughts? I know there are a lot of people running spools on the street.

I run a spool in my 67, it spends 98% of its time on the street.
The bad part is - its difficult to park in tight places (turnning radius is cut w/ spool) :?
and if you have a loose stall it takes a few more revs to get it going when turning.
But other then that its good.
My Luv has the tightest turning radius of anything I've owened, so a spool shouldnt
be too bad in it, and it is light.
If you run street slicks, a spool will wear/feather them from driving on the street.

im going to be running a spool on the street until I decide to spend the money on a locker.
I know lots of people who run a spool on the street.
of course it isn't their daily driver either.
if it was a daily IMO I wouldn't run a spool.

I got a 4.56 with a locker.... but the next step is the spool . They work good on the street but if you got to push the car it is much harder to push we had a Luv with a spool on the street and it did just fine...as for the tires feathering well who has rears long enough to notice a feathering problem?? LOL

I was running a mini spool for a while and just took it out. It is annoying when you turn in parking lots, and wet roads are a No No Too.
I had broke a piece in my trac Loc and wanted to go to the strip last year
so I put a mini spool in. It was the cheapest way to go play.
I happened to find the piece that I needed on E bay for less than 25.00.

It can be done but I would prefer a locker or posi of some sort.
I currently have a plain unit in mine.
