Hey man, looks like I'm just answering all your posts tonight
I asked the same question here a while back and the general concensus was to go with the alternator made for the LUV w/ air conditioning. It has like 15 more amps or something, but thats still only like 50.
A couple years ago I came across this website where these guys were selling brackets for the LUV so you could mount a modern Delco GM alternator. That would mean you had a larger alternator, AND it would be internally regulated. Like an idiot, I thought "Hey cool, I'll have to remember this website for when I figure out how to go from external to internal regulator and I'm ready to do the upgrade."
Well, I moved onto other projects and I forgot the site and I still haven't figured out exactly how to splice which wires to go to the internal regulator. I'm going to start searching again though, and if I come across it I'll definately let you know. Thats THE best way to get more amps and get rid of that crappy external regulator.
