Hi everyone! Brand new to the forum. I just bought a 1980 LUV in great condition with the original engine and 4 speed transmission. Looks like it has a small leak out of the rear differential (as best I could tell in the gas station parking lot) but other than that, remarkably clean.

I'm already planning what I'd like to do with it and I was just wondering if anyone on here had any general tips for maintenance and that sort of thing. Right now I think I'd like to try to keep the original engine and transmission. It already has a brand new Weber carb and a new aluminum radiator. Other than that, what should I keep an eye out for? Also any tips on dealing with the rear diff would be appreciated. Is there a seal that might be leaking? Are those still available? I also desperately want to change the wheels and probably the tires. I don't think they go with the truck at all. Any tips on which wheels and tires are able to go on this little truck?

I'm not an experienced mechanic or anything by any stretch, but I have done some intermediate jobs on other vehicles I own and would like to do any work on this little guy myself. Any tips appreciated!

I'm including a picture of my new LUV, just so you all can marvel as I have at how clean it is after all these years. Can't wait to be part of the LUV community!

Sorry! My bad! Guess the coffee had not kicked in yet and my eyes were tricking me. Do like your truck, the eyes weren't tricking me there!
