Looking to do the 4.3L swap, with manifold & carb. Trying to stay away from the stock manifold/carb set-up from the Chevy Astro. So the Edelbrock 2111 seems to be the right manifold. But which carb? The Edelbrock is my first choice as I like their simplicity and reliability, but 500 CFM seems like too much. The Holley 8007 390CFM is appealing, but isn't cheap (over $600) and I find them trickier to dial in. Was wondering what other LUVers are using, and how you like them. :?: :?: :?:

500 shouldn’t be too much for a 4.3.

750cfm divided by 350 cubic inches is 2.14 cfm per cubic inch. 2.14 cfm times 264 (4.3 liters) is 565 cfm.

I appreciate that. When I used the Summit CFM calculator, and plugged in Max RPMs of 4000, and engine size of 262, it gives an answer of 257.75. Those Holley 390CFMs are just too pricey ($619).

Ah I see. I’m pretty sure that calculator wants the max rpms the engine will handle, not what you expect to self-limit to.

In any case, lots of people have had success with the edelbrock 500 carb on a 4.3. You may have to jet it a little smaller than stock. Remember the 500 cfm refers to airflow and is only 1 part of the equation. Just because the carb is capable of pulling 500 cfm doesn’t mean it will.
