Hello from Sacramento CA. I have a 78 luv. It was my first car. Over 300k miles. Three engine builds, 3 transmissions 5 speed swap. Dellorto carb swap, hooker header, custom cam, Impluse port fuel injection was on there for a while, 1.6 head on a G200 bottom end. All that was getting to hard to keep up and smog in CA so now it’s time for a new engine swap. 3.8l supercharged V6 from a Monte Carlo and a 5 speed from a V6 Camaro. 28 years of collecting LUV specific parts are up for sale.

It’s a 2wd 5 speed recently rebuilt and ready to go for a luv
With a centerforce clutch with maybe 20K on it

I am not saying that impulses were not available turbocharged, I am saying the intake and fuel injection system that I have for sale came off an NA impulse G200.

What year? That makes a huge difference. The MSG-5 transmissions were all failure-prone from '81-'85. But they were MUCH stronger from '86-'89.

And how much are you asking for it? The P'up owners seem to like these, because the 5th gear ratio is higher than the other variants of this transmission (I have the '89 Impulse transmission in mine).

Jack

Please dont cut the core support. You can have the filler neck divorced and relocated at most any competent radiator shop. The one I did on my old truck that drummerforhire got back is in the link below...

Jack

How can I tell what year it’s from? Once I get it out I’ll post pics on a separate thread with case numbers and such. I have been told it’s a unique transmission cause the clutch fork window is on both sides?

5 speed 2wd transmission from the Luv. Anyone looking probably has 20k on the rebuild. 14246E28 is stamped on the side with 083 on the tail stock. Centerforce clutch and flywheel available as well with 20k.

Ok, that's a pre-'86 transmission. :(

What are you wanting for your transmission set up? Also what part of the country are you located?
