Hello, LUV masta. Yep, just a hop skip and a jump away. Right now my LUV is being painted. And, I have to find a 350 std bore roller block ('87-'01) and do an engine swap as I have a cracked cylinder wall and sucking water. Darn, I just built the motor, too. Oh well, life goes on. Doing the swap (pulling, tear down and put the innards from the cracked block into the new block and reinstall) is a weekend job, so I should be up and running by the time the weather is nice. So yea, let's get together. And, no competition here for pick 'n' pull. Although, I do need a Mikado horn button and speaker/defroster grill. Anyway, thanks for getting back to me, and hopefully can get together.

Hey Man, so cracked wall :( reworking the engine is a good thing, you'll be moving faster. I still putt the 4cyl. I saved a fresh new motor now w/ 25k, still smogging her too.... I mention Pnp as I've driven out to both them yards & made it a day of collection part luckily on 1/2 off dayz :) seems like they were visited by another person looking...I was thinking a Santa Cruz trip late summer...Music nights

Hello Bay Area folk. I'm up for a get together sometime this summer, or anytime for a junkyard crawl.. I finally found a good roller block. Had to drive to Yucca Valley. Got it cleaned, magnafluxed and honed ($125, not bad). Now waiting for my LUV to be painted, which is supposed to be this week, Chevy velvet blue metallic (think Camaro and Vette) with red micro flake. Will post photos when completed. :D Hopefully my friends shop will be available in May for the engine swap. Pull bad engine and tear down putting everything in the new block with new rings and bearings. Drive in on a Saturday morning; drive out Sunday morning. Well, that's my update. Until next time, be safe and keep on LUV'n.

3rdLuvNext2a66MALIBU here's a couple of pics I took this morning. Just an old Luv with a couple of mods. I've had it since 1988.

Looks good. Some of the 4-bangers can sound real good with the right exhaust. I'll post some pics of mine as soon as I get it back from paint, hopefully next week.

Had that one a few yrs have you ....I've only had my yellow step since 2007 it was in a creek flood up to the windshield when i got it
pretty much took it all apart and let her dry out before swapping parts from another luv to make this one complete new motor w/ 25 k on it..had a few more since the 80's... slowly working on free 80 4x i picked it up for parts but it was all theer and looking descent so i brought it back to life w/ tags

You do love the LUVs, don't you LUV masta? That must have been quite the project restoring the flood LUV. Hunting for parts is a love hate relationship: hate huntin' but love findin'. The fellow painting my LUV had to move and it's put him behind, but he assures me it will be done by the end of the month. I would like to find a front gravel pan, but they are hard to come by. And I need something to cover the horn button hole on the Micato wheel. I'll probably end up fabricating something. Well, until next time, take care and be safe.
