Then you can get this hose assembly loose from the tank. A flex, a 45 and a straight peace. I will have to try and get some new hose as these are a little hardened.

if you take the gas tank out, you get the room to drill the frame, tap the holes, and mount the plate for Holly red fuel pump on the 1972 Chevy luv

Did this pump come with a regulator?

Yes it did. The regulator is not bypass regulator, just one in, with two regulated outs. The information says it is set for 7 lbs. I may have to turn it down a little for the 4150 Holly carb floats to work correctly. The Holly guy says 7 should be ok. It is a mild 350 with a 700 CFM carb, guessing some sort of mild cam. it is still running points at this point, until I get aa newer small cam HEI unit of some sort. It gets around 4 to 19 MPG, so this product should feed it ok.

You had said it was a Red pump ( 7 psi. shutoff pressure) is why I asked because that is a Holley Blue pump with a 14 psi. shutoff! If it had no regulator I would have recommended that you get one!

I got it at a Orilley in south Orlando FL,. The guy there probably ordered the wrong part. The last one I got was in a blue box when I got the blue model for my RV. This one came with a regulator, and the papers inside of it said it was preset to seven pounds. I do have a pressure gauge I plan on installing on the output line so I can check the Output pressure. It does have the blue mount on the sticker. I will have to see if there is a marking on the pump.

I am going to use this as a filter before the pump. It clear and can be inspected easily. it also lets me adapt the 5/16 fuel lone to the 3/8 line I am using in the pump and pressure regulator. I may run 3/8 to the front, all the way to the carb, at a later date.

I am leaving this pump mounted here, but turning it, and relocating where I mounted the regulator, when I get time to run the 3/8 fuel line. I may clean up the way the hoses are ran also.

The regulator fits here for now, I will relocate it to under the drivers seat, on the frame rail, when I run the 3/8 hard line at a later date

note to self......DO NOT believe the guy that said my Holly will be ok at seven pounds. I had to go down to around 4.5 pounds before they quit shooting fuel out the carb lol.

. After adjusting the floats a little, I am up to around 5.5 to 6 pounds before it over loads the primary floats. The secondary floats were fine even at seven pounds. oooooo well it works, so why try to change things. The fuel line I ran from the fuel pump to the regulator says its rated for 50 pound psi. The fuel line swells up when I leave it running at idle for vary long. I purchased some better hose rated at 250 psi. I will install that, and see if it looks like it is any better.

I am back to working on the miss fire again. I took the cap off the distributor, and found that the wire was melted, and causing a short before it got to the points. Here is a picture of the melted wire inside the distributor.

After replacing this wire, and installing a new set of points it is running with a slight miss again. I have not done the cap yet, so lets replace that. The second one back on the drivers side broke off in the cap.

I find it interesting, the second one back on both the passenger and drivers side had wire problems.

This is only a suggestion! If you are going to run that point style distributor and not run MSD convert it to Pertronics electronic. You will thank yourself later!

I have not posted it/ I used a petronix 1181 LS conversion. No flying magnets, it works mounted to where the points and condenser were mounted in the same small cap distributor. I will post some pictures of the finished product if I can get a shot of it.

I took a drive to Orlando today to show one of my customers my truck. I had a blow out on the drivers side front tire at OBT and I4. I now have two new front tires care of Discount tire. They did not have a listing for a 1972 Chevy LUV truck in the computer. The poor twenty something guy at the counter had never even heard of it. The forty year old manager comes out from the back office after hearing me talk to him about it, he says >>Ya I remember them, don't think I have seen on since the early eighty's.>>. He did take pictures of it. when I brought it back after fixing the blow out, so the could but another matching tire on it. It seems the old tire was date stamped April of 1989 he said lol.

I found out why some there were electrical gremlins in the truck. Its time to install more new wire and some blue heat shrink to fix the loose and bad connections.
