I've read some very old threads on building a tilt front end. Is there anything newer or just plan new?

Anyone build a tilt front end out of the original sheet metal?

This was a dirt drag truck. Shortened the bed and set the cab back. Lengthened the fenders and hood...

I'm thinking about going up on a straight axle and would like to build the tilt out of the original sheet metal.

How did you build your's?

Cut the inner structure out like shown. The fenders and valance were bolted together, a tubing frame attached to that, in the lower front, and a large pipe/over a small pipe arrangement. Pull 2 pins on each side, slide the cap forward in the pipes, then fold it forward. You will need a couple of wire cables to limit the travel. Remove the cables, and you can slide it out of the pipe attached to the frame and it will look like the picture shown. The square at the front was the framework for the radiator. That pile was strictly built for function...
