Hi guys. Wanted to let you know that I could not find the correct freeze plug for my '77 intake manifold. There are two plugs that are a few inches below the carb that are securing the water jacket flow for the carburetor heat. I checked many places and none have a listing for a plug in the manifold. The 3/4 brass plugs were too small and a CARQUEST 20mm steel was too big. I tried on line and O'Reillys Napa, Advance Auto and others. No luck. So I fixed the problem by taking a Napa 3/4 brass cup and 'stretching' it out. It is a product that was made by stamping to begin with so I figured I could just re-stamp it. It worked!! I just used various size 1/4 and 3/8 sockets. I secured the cup and pounded the sockets in graduated sizes into it until I had an outside diameter of .830 + - . Finally, I doped it up with red RTV and installed it and it fit great. The installation path is through the wheel well next to the right tire. I used an extra long (about 24") 3/8 drive extension with a snug fitting socket on the end. Set it up all square and with a couple of whacks it was done. By going through the wheel well it is a direct straight in approach. Hope this helps someone......Don
