Alright I bought this luv from a buddy. Its been sitting in a field for quite a while now. They couldnt find the title and I have yet to title 42 it so im not positive on the year. It has a 350 with a turbo 350 trans and a Ford 9" rearend. Needless to say theres already been a lot of stuff changed on it. Anyways Ive went through everything to try and get it to start. It has the in dash key ignition but when i try to turn the engine over all the lights shut off and fans and wont do anything. I can not figure out what is causing this, when i jump the starter it turns over that way i just cant get it to do so with the key. Also is there any way to easily determine the year other than title 42? Thanks for any help in advance. This is thr truck havent made it to setting up my stuff yet.

FOR THE YEAR THE 6th position of the door jam tag > CLN13 "6" Will tell you the YR / SERIES #
Series 5= 1976, Series 6 = 1977 "NO Series 7" & Series 8 = 1978

Nope that would be a series 8, which would make it a 1978. 81 and 82 are completely different body styles.

Okay,I've never gotten into decoding the VINs,but.........
Reading this thread just made my head hurt...LOL

First,If 3rdluv's info is correct, the 6th(digit I assume) is the series number, then according to the owner's post it would make it a 73.
If the series number in the VIN is the 7th digit, then it would make it a 79.

After reading the OP's original description and looking at the pic,the truck's been highly modified, therefore without more info/pics it's going to be a little difficult to figure out exactly what year the cab and chassis are.
