I don't know if this tip is hidden somewhere on this site or not but I thought I would share. Sometimes little things make a big difference in drivability.

I have been driving my 72 for 6 years now with doors that rattle when going over bumps and other rough terrain. I chalked it up to my deteriorating door seals and just let it go until yesterday. I decided to see if I could adjust the striker plate to tighten up the doors a bit to reduce the now annoying rattles. I was able to get some of the play out with an adjustment but not all of it. Looking at the striker though I noticed there was wear on the outside edge where the door closes. I also noticed that the backside was the same only not worn. I decided to flip it around and try the new surface. It worked great and my doors do not rattle at all now.

NOTE: These screw into an adjustable plate on the inner shell of the cab. If you remove both screws at the same time the plate will fall down into the inner cab. I don't know where it would land and I did not want to find out. So carefully take out 1 screw and loosen the other. Then pull one out and rotate the striker out of the way and reinstall the screw to hold the backing plate in place. Then pull the other screw and flip the striker up and install both screws. align the striker and adjust. I put mine right back on the marks where it had been and the alignment was perfect.

Holy cow! I am doing this tomorrow. That rattle has been driving me absolutely nuts for years now. I bought new weather striping but just haven't installed it yet. Thanks for the tip man!

I will be doing this at work tomorrow! I've done the door seals not too long ago, but that was for the bad rain inside the truck.
