When I was 18, a very long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I built my baby, a '73 LUV powered by a whole bunch of "horsies". Sold her to go off to college, then over the years often wondered what ever happened to Old Blue. Recently a buddy found an old article online, a short blurb, picturing my truck. The owners name was mentioned so I looked him up. Same guy I sold it to! 38 years ago! His health is failing, hadn't driven it in probably a decade, and desperately wanted me to buy her back, so I did! Best I can tell at this time, just need to rebuild Holley and she'll be back on het feet again.

More pics added here. These were from late 1977, not long before I sold her. Not much has changed, even has the same curtains today that my sister made for me then. MAJOR déjà vu

Yeah, 350, bored, 11-1/2:1, cam, Turbo 400, shorten possi rear, and so on. Carb is a mess though. Tomorrow I'll start sorting it out, just got back from picking it up a few days ago. In 38 years the previous owner only put about 25k miles on it.

I'm the Buddy that he mentions in the first post. I was surfing the web for something totally unrelated when i cam e across a small picture that had been in Mini truckin magazine back in 2008. I sent him a copy with the question "does this look familiar?" He about freaked out - it had been 38 years since he had seen it. I went back and found the place where I spotted the picture and got the guys name and city. With some work he found the guys phone number and called him - it turned out to still be the same guy that he sold it to 38 years ago! One thing led to another and we teamed up and bought it back! You see I had helped Jeff build it back when we were both just teenagers. After flushing the gas tank, Jeff got it running, but not well. I reset the timing and it was much better but pinged a bit. We figured out that the guy had jetted it for his 8,000 foot elevation home in Colorado and we live in So Cal at about 100 ft. so it's way too lean. So it's now at my place while I rejet the carb, tune up the old Mallory dual point dist and soon she be haulin ass like the good old days.

Now I just need to find my own old V8 LUV truck. The guy who had it last I knew of is on here, but I haven't been able to reach him. Does anyone know Jim Miller in Cadiz KY? If so let him know that this member of the Mini Truck Hall of Fame would love to have his old truck back. Here's a picture of it - Black 72, chop top, step side, Corvette rear end, 331" small block

I see I'm not the only one that has purchased the same truck, twice.

Good job!
