Has anyone found a canopy/topper from another model of truck that fits the luv bed correctly? Most of the 80s truck beds are about the same size but are there any that line up the same?
Hauling a lot of tools and materials jobsite to jobsite and the rain kind of bites for that

I have been trying to find one for quite a while. The bed size is 76x60 which is fairly common but the issue is newer trucks slope forward at the back of the cab. Luvs however are straight up and down on the rear of the cab. This makes fitment issues. When looking at a topper look at the leading edge toward the cab and if it isn't straight it wont fit right. Also there is a website with a list of bed sizes that is helpful. Older mini-trucks were all about the same size too if you see a Datsun or Courier topper.

The locally fabricated aluminum shell I have had for 36 years fits the LUV I bought it for AND the 2003 EC Tacoma I recently acquired, so a topper for a '95-'04 regular bed Tacoma should fit your LUV as long as the front is vertical to match the slope of the cab.

I doubt it will work. I bought a bed cover for a Tacoma, I have to cut it down to fit.

I was thinking I will have to make a one off quick release to attach it to the bed rails. Seems like the closest fit so far

How far off was the fitment on the cover?

Gotta find one that works or make one incorporated into a ladder rack myself

I forgot, it's been a while since I checked it, several inches each way.

Any idea what year it was from?
If both beds are 60x76 it shouldn't be that far off

Did yours maybe come from a T100? Those are 77 x 67

I'm seeing 76x61.5 for the Tacoma regular and extended cab I believe these measurements are the topper size so worth may be over bed size slightly, not sure

On the chart that last column is the degree of the slant at the front of the cab. 2,4 and 10 degrees. That is the issue with fitting a Luv. Mazda seem to be straight at the front. Also for hard bed covers I was told a Nissan Frontier fits a Luv.

Yeah i was looking at the slant angles whichever company makes those toppers wouldn't work but I have seen a couple that don't match the cab curve. I will have to do some measuring and comparing at picknpull and see what I find . Would be easier than making my own at least.

Just went and measured mine and it is 60 1/2 wide and 76 3/16 - 76 1/4 long, and 19 7/8 at the highest point above the front bed rail.
May just make my own integrated into the ladder rack I have to make myself anyway. Hopefully that way I can make the whole assembly one piece I can remove fairly easily. Trying to fab a ladder/lumber rack around a Toyota canopy that doesnt fit perfect to begin with may be a pain and probably end up ugly :econfused
Will have to see what may or may not fit

From what I found most early toyota and nissans, and some newer ones have the same bed size as long as the front isn't angled forward.
Universal flat front ones will probably all "fit"

My newly acquired aluminum canopy, squared up just right at the back of the bed and doesn't raise my roof line except at the sites where the cab drops off sharply.
Image

It has a very slight angle which makes getting to the front to bolt it down a lot easier but doesn't interfere with fitment
Image

Absolutely perfect width
Image

Still need to remove it and weather strip around the bottom but I had to get it home so I bolted it down

Considerably slower... But yeah
I wish I had the side windows his has, my center side ones open out like rv vent windows with the screw in/out knob. Definitely adds to the sleeper factor, once I get a muffler that ya know, muffles... its just an old v6 work truck..
That mini farm truck looks like a handful to drive!
Biggest plus is the canopy weighs nothing. I would be surprised if it was over 50lbs.

It only took 4 years to find it but I finally did. This is a real old school shell that came off a 72 Luv that has been sitting since 1986. It's a little dirty but in good shape otherwise. 8)

Just set in place for now. I need to change out the handle with a new one. Its rusted in place.
