Small update. I traded the Goodyear Eagles I had on the front runners for some DOT Metric radials to a local guy. They took care of having the tires swapped over so I did OK on the trade...

And got a pile of boxes with the rear end stuff. Waiting until I finish the GTO I am working on to get back to it. Almost like Christmas!

Still working on the GTO, so I haven't had much time for this one. I did manage to get the 9 inch together and installed...

Finally got the rear done and hung the fender for a test. I can work with it. The angle of the pic is misleading. I got room, just got to trim the fender lip a bit...

I liked what you did with the tailgate. Can you post some pictures of it? I have step side in need of a tailgate and thinking of doing what you did.

So I live in the land of 10%. I get a day off to work on the GTO outside, and of course it rains. So I come into the shop and start on this one. Modded the cross member for the trans I made to clear the temporary mufflers. I got a set of Purple Hornie header muffs for now. They WILL not stay. Since I had to jack it up in the front to get underneath, I also stuck the front runners on. First time I had matching wheels on since I got it, lol... There is another cross member between the rear and the trans I started modding it to clear the eventual pipes and the drive shaft to have some extra clearance.

Just saw this post. I just have standard hinges on that side. I am going to use the stock type chains on it. One side to hold it shut and the other side is gonna just hang in place and sorta hide the exposed hinge...

A page back I fabbed a metal gauge panel. Today I covered it with some left over material from recovering the arm rests on the GTO I am working on and installed the digital panel in it. Then I pulled the dash out of my parts truck, as it is in better shape than the one in mine. I am going to try and fill in the cracks in the upper part of the dash, and recover it, wish me luck...

I will try to remember to, but I take crappy pics...

I pulled the dash out of the parts truck, and it would work good with a dash cap. I have a new dash cap on hand already, so I chickened out on doing it to the parts dash, hate to mess up a sure thing...

I pulled the dash cap off my current dash recently, and it is decent, the dash is in pieces. I think I will pull the dash and mold it to the old cap and fill in the missing pieces, then try to cover it...

If I screw it up, I can go the other route, lol...

I cut that dash up before putting the cap on. It was horrible. No way a cap was going to cover the way it was warped.

As noted earlier I have a better dash and a new dash cap for it. I decided to see what I could do with the one in the truck, and the old dash cap that come with it. The plan is to mold the cap to the dash, fill in the cracks and cover the whole thing with vinyl. The original is dash will take more work, but it is my back up in case this fails, lol... Anyways here is a crappy pic of the start...

I took a flap disc and ground down the raised edges of the cracks and the end of the dash where it meets the windshield. I then scuffed the entire thing, and the bottom of the old dash cap, wiped them both down with lacquer thinner, then some wax and grease remover. I then used 2 tubes of Gorilla glue epoxy and covered the dash top, when tacky, I put the cap and and put all my air tools on it to hold it in place, and used some clamps in other places to pull it up tight. There are a couple of cracks in the lower part of the dash, I cleaned those up as well, and I have them rough filled for now. When it dries I will scuff them and top it off with another coat to fill them in. I will then pull the dash and flip it over to build up the area that is missing with some foam. I will also trim the cap edges flush with the dash and mold them in, then cover it. I am going to try it first with some black vinyl I have left over from another project. The way this is curved though, I have my doubts. It could be done pretty easily with some tweed type material, but I am not sure I would like the look. IF it doesn't work, oh well...

Spent a while on this project today, as usual, nothing went right... Wet weather resulted in the humidity causing my bonding agent to be slow to dry. WHile letting it finish curing, I decided to cut the trans tunnel...

Plenty of room...

Reason for cutting the tunnel...

Ran out of Mig wire, and it is 25+ miles one way to get some so I pulled the steering wheel, then the dash as it was cured...

Started to fill in the gaps, but the dry foam I used would not stick with the glue I had, the saga continues...
