Called a couple of machine shops local to get an idea of how much I'd spend to get one of my 350 blocks ready for reassembly. One guy insisted on boring it without even asking about its condition or seeing it. $500 for just the block work.

The last place I used forever ago charged about half that. Maybe that's why they're out of business now?

I think my v6 block work was around $300 and that included a .030 bore
Pretty sure all in all I spent about 600 on machine work between the heads crank and block. But I didn't have the heads surfaced I did very that carefully with a sanding block at home when I was doing my "porting"

I called a few other places. Got a few more quotes. Average was $225 without a bore, $325 with. That's more in line with what I was expecting. I guess the first guy is more "elite" than I can afford.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
