The condenser looking thing is in fact a condenser. It's only job is to dampen arcing of the contact points in the regulator and thus keep noise out of the electrical system and the radio. If you suspect it as the problem just temporarily remove it from it's grounding.

Today I put in a third alternator, a new regulator, cleaned all grounds for alternator, ran a new battery wire to the alternator, and installed a brand new fuse block with spade fuses.

Everything works now, we'll see if it stays that way or blows out another alt.

Thanks for the help all the way

Ok I cleaned the fuse box and all the connectors to the fuel pump and regulator. The gen light is gone now but the batt terminals still don't show the alt charging. The alt post does show 14v though. The truck still shuts off after a few seconds.
Thanks

Mike

How did you clean the fuse box? Did you use anything special?

I cleaned it the best I could but it was still breaking alternators so I bought this "HELLA H84960091 6-Way Lateral Single Fuse Box" from Amazon for $10 and put new spade fuses in it. I didn't have to drill any holes just used one of the existing holes.

I also put on a new regulator.

Then a new alternator and I haven't had any trouble since.

Seems like upgrading to a better fuse box is fixing everyones electrical problem. I will be doing that next!, btw how do i figure out where to plug the wire lines on the Hella 6 way fuse box or any other fuse boxes diffrent frm the stock one on a Luv?

Well the Hella fuse box just provides for one connection to each side of the fuse, you so have to buy the quick disconnect clips (spade terminals) and a couple pairs of quick disconnect piggy back clips. O'reilley has them but they are hard to find. I almost gave up and left but I found them just before that. They are in the electrical connector aisle.

Once you have the quick disconnect (spade) terminals and the pigggy back things, you can make short pieces of wire to jumper to the connections that would have been connected by bars on the factory fuse block. Mine is kinda messy but it works great, and for the first time, I have no GEN light glow when I turn on the lights or blower fan.
