Back from the rod run. I was the only luv out there, and only a hand full of mini trucks. Most were bagged Nissan hardbodys and one bulletside datsun. Was still fun, luv ran great even after all the rev offs :) made the 200 round trip without a hiccup. I'll post pics later, Im off to enjoy what's left of summer on my 1980 cb900 cafe racer

Are you guys with sbc using the stock gas pedal? I don't have enough pedal travel to open all
4.

I have the stock pedal with a threaded rod and heim on my avatar tuck. My project truck I am going to run a spectre cable. I can't remember the thread, but the cable adapts to the stock firewall hole pretty easy from what i saw...

The spectre throttle cable and bracket is what I'm using, I don't have enough pedal travel though. It's hitting the floor right as the secondaries are about to open.

just got done rerouting the throttle cable and redoing the cable mount. pushing the gas pedal is now nice and smooth unlike before, but im still not opening the secondaries. if I tighten up the cable a lot then it will, but id also be idling around 3k lol. maybe if I bent the gas pedal upwards? what do you guys think? it seems like there just isn't enough travel in the stock pedal

Still a no go with the secondaries. I've tightened the pedal stop bolt all the way, rerouted the throttle cable and redid bracket. f I take the cable off the carb it matches up, put it back on and only primaries. I'm stumped

Stock pedal here too. Is there any other locations for the peg on the throttle shaft to increase the throw? Post a picture.

theres only one other spot to put the cable, and no change but a stiffer pedal. heres a pic or two

Moving the cable closer to the throttle shaft would be a shorter throw. I don't understand how it won't go to full throttle. Just a question here, will the current set up open the primary butterflies to the 90 degree position looking down the carb? Is this a manual or vacuum secondaries?

1: I've been running around with it closest to the throttle shaft like pictured. 2: I'm stumped also, along with everyone else I've talked to. 3: I'm pretty sure, I will double check that tomorrow. 4: they are manual secondaries

It looks to me like you are losing the travel from the bracket to the throttle shaft like Karl said, The distance looks about 2" farther back than it should be. It should be right at the rear bolt of the carb not back like it is. Does the bracket have the mount for the kickdown cable? Its hard to tell from your picture but the kickdown mount should be about 2" back from the throttle mount. I know from my junkyard scrounging that GM made a lot of variations on the cable mounts and I have always used a factory bracket instead of the aftermarket ones.

As a note I have a similar S curve in my spectre cable and they last about 3 years before the cable starts breaking strands. I am planning on switching to a 70 Camaro pedal which will move the cable 2 inches closer to center and give it a straighter throw for the cable.

I fixed it finally :) I moved the mount closer to the throttle shaft like luvtrkr suggested. (Adjustable bracket)There was still no change. Then I noticed my return spring was touching the secondary shaft, not letting it open. Removed the spring and all 4 open now and its nice and smooth unlike before. I knew it had to be something easy, all 4 opened when I first got it going. Sorry for my stupidity guys lol and thanks for helping me out. Also there is a spot for the kickdown cable luvtrkr, but I have it just laying there. The ratchet shifter is my kickdown and makes driving that much more fun

The kick down cable also works with the governor for correct up shifts. If you hook it up you will notice a much more quality up shift and the correct points.

Will do. 90% of the time I shift manually except when driving through town

Unless you have a manual valve body you will need the kick down cable on and adjusted correctly. I don't understand why you are so adamant about not hooking it up and adjusting it, since you have the brackets it's free to do. Without a manual valve body the Trans is still relying on the kick down cable and governor.
